01/02/2017

Every year, we all make a conscious effort to exhibit some major life change. Whether it be eating healthy, or to quit smoking, we all want one thing; to be a better US. Well, how about being a better member of the black community? Here are 17 things every black person should do in 2017.

  • Learn and KNOW your rights.

In an age where police reform is very much needed, all we can do is hope for equality, it seems. However, knowing YOUR rights, is a MAJOR KEY to police reform. They can not infringe on the rights of those who know them.

  • Support Black Owned Businesses.

African Americans are using street knowledge, and the will to build wealth in a way that is impacting the black economy. Support black owned businesses. Invest in black owned stock, shop at black owned clothing stores, even buy your coffee from the black barista on High street; generate black wealth.

  • Read Black authors.

African Americans were denied the right to read and write. Support black authors, and invest in your own knowledge.

  • Volunteer at the Boys and Girls club.
  • Start black organizations on college campuses.
  • Attend Open Mics with black artist.
  • Go NATURAL.
  • Protest Injustice.
  • Feed Black senior citizens.
  • Travel to Historically black cities.
  • Support black blogs.
  • Follow black social media accounts.
  • Learn about black mental health.
  • Mentor black youth.
  • Join a historically black non profit.
  • Write for black news media.
  • EDUCATE YOURSELVES ON POLITICS.

It is hard being an African American in a country that sees no value in the black mind, or the black dollar. However, we must do all we can to insure future generations follow in our footsteps of empowering the black community. Live black, be black, LOVE BLACK!
